Ralph's Market is locally owned and operated by Ronnie and Vicki Trosclair.
Company history
In 1984, father and son, Emerson and Ralph Singletary, decided to build a local grocery store in their community. They named the store "Ralph's Supermarket. The name came from the son's first name. The father and son enjoyed their endeavor until the father became ill and passed away. Ralph continued serving his community with the best quality and service.
As the store began to grow, plans were being made to expand. Those plans were put on hold when without warning, Ralph suffered a heart attack and passed away. His wife, Marian Singletary, decided to continue Ralph's endeavor to expand the store. A little time after completion of the store expansion, she decided to sell the store, as it was not a dream of hers to run, but that of her husbands and he was no longer here to run it. Ronnie Trosclair was the head store manager and had worked at Ralph's since 1987. When Marian put the store up for sale, Ronnie and his father, Elmore Trosclair, decided to buy it to continue the same legacy that Ralph Singletary and his father began. They decided to leave the store's name Ralph's Supermarket. Ronnie and Elmore acquired the store in 2000 and were, as the first father and son, enjoying their endeavor to serve the local community with the best quality and service. In 2002, without warning, we lost Elmore Trosclair to heart failure. Ralph's Supermarket continued to serve the community. By 2005 once again, the store had outgrown its size and an expansion took place. Today Ralph's Supermarket is still a locally owned independent grocer just as when the first father and son opened its doors in 1984.
Their food supplier is Associated Grocer's. Ralph's Supermarket is still striving to serve the community with the best in quality and service. They currently serve 50,000 people each. Ralph Singletary and Ronnie Trosclair shared a close relationship as friends and in business. The legacy that Ralph Singletary began has truly been carried on in the hands of owner Ronnie Trosclair. Both of these men have contributed their blessings of success to the Lord.
The request by many customers for Ralph's to open another store in another part of our community is also becoming a reality. Ralph's Supermarket is breaking ground in 2006 for its second location at Pelican Point and is expected to open around the first of the year of 2007. With both locations, Ralph's Supermarket will even better serve the community with the best quality and service possible. We would not expect anything less for our friends and neighbors, because that is exactly what the customers are at Ralph's Supermarket, friends!
